Our purpose is to preserve, foster and promote Russian culture and historical heritage in the state of Victoria through provision of infrastructure and support for all Australians of Russian descent engaged in cultural activities; to promote cooperation between the Russian and Australian communities.
YOUNG GUARD
Young Guard is a youth collective of volunteers who strive to bring people together through cultural exchange. Based at the Russian House in Fitzroy for the past 3 years, the group has successfully developed a platform for creative and inquisitive minds to express themselves.

LIBRARY
The library has over 10,000 books in Russian by Russian and non Russian authors.
Books are categorized by topics – just the Russian Classical literature has more than 4000 volumes. There are also many periodicals, dictionaries, encyclopedias and reference books. All books of religious and philosophical nature have been transferred to the church library in Brunswick.

Restoration Update
The work schedule suggests that, if the weather permits, we may be finished with the Greeves Street façade restoration toward the end of this month. The Gore street façade lower part should be finished a few weeks later.

A reminder that the new annual membership fees ($50/$25) come into effect on July 1, 2023

Russian House is the venue for community groups. We welcome social clubs to use our facilities for their events and projects.

Dance company
Jhoom-Bollywood Dance Company promotes and celebrates Bollywood style and colour through dance.
Through performances and narrative-driven classes, Jhoom Bollywood Dance Company creates pathways for people of all ages to participate in the vibrancy and “masala” of Bollywood culture.
Kalinka
Dance group
Kalinka has delighted Melbourne audiences with its repertoire of Russian dance since its formation in 1991
Rusichi
Dance group
Russian dance ensemble “Rusichi” is a young group of enthusiasts who enjoy traditional and contemporary style of Russian dancing.
Most of the performers have no formal training in any of the main stream dance techniques, thus making them true representatives of the folk dancers.

The day-to-day operations at Simhanada are run by the teachers and the students of the school on a volunteer-basis.
Classes take place 6.30 am to 8.30 am every day of the week and also on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm to 8pm.
